Five Fashion Month Trends I’m digging

Fashion Month just ended, so let’s talk about some of the Spring 2022 trends that I’m really digging.

After living in loungewear for much of the pandemic, I think a lot of us were hankering for some fresh and forward-thinking fashion – and, the in-person shows in New York, London, Milan, and Paris – delivered. Even if one wasn’t able to attend the shows, just knowing that the runways and street styles were alive again felt great! So, with Fashion Month just ended, let’s talk about some of the Spring 2022 trends that I’m really digging.

1. Oversized Blazers (and not much else)

If you’re still on the fence about the no-pants trend, Spring 2022 might just convince you to finally try it. The style was spotted on the runways of Brandon Maxwell, Balmain, Chanel, and Jonathan Simkhai, to name a few, as well as among the stylish crowd that flocked to the shows. Made for power dressing, these blazers came to play! Great as a suit or on it’s own with a pair of jeans, it’s a versatile style in it’s trendy silhouette.

2. Kelly Green

If there was one hue that shone brighter than most on the runways this season, that would be Kelly green. Adam Lippes offered a shift dress and prairie hat combo that looked so bold and bright. Tanya Taylor, meanwhile, presented an ankle-length halter dress that screamed summer. And Emilia Wickstead had several pieces in their collection, including a mini dress and a floor-length gown. Other labels that featured the vibrant hue were 3.1 Phillip Lim and Rejina Pyo.

3. Low Rise Jeans

No matter how any of us feels about the trends of the nineties, we better brace ourselves because they’re poised to make a comeback, thanks in large part to the influence of TikTok where Y2K is one of the most popular aesthetics. One particular trend that was all over the runways? The low-rise jean (there’s also the micro mini, but more on that later). Blumarine sent several pairs down their Spring 2022 catwalk. The one pictured below was paired with a butterfly crop-top, which amped up the Y2K vibe even further. The style was also spotted on the runways of Missoni, MSGM, and Chanel, among other labels.

4. Micro Minis

If the revival of the low-rise jeans is making you nervous, wait until you see the teeny-tiny skirts that were everywhere during Fashion Month. These micro minis have Paris-Hilton-from-the-2000s written all over them! And Miu Miu (for one) seemed dead serious about bringing back the trend, judging from the number of barely-there skirts they sent down their Spring 2022 runway. Other labels that jumped in on the re-emerging trend include Versace and Dior.

5. Space-Dyed Knits

We don’t know if the tie-dye craze during lockdown had any influence on this trend but there were a lot of space-dyed knits on the Spring 2022 runways. Missoni had them, which wasn’t surprising as they’re the knit masters. But they were also seen on the catwalks of Jonathan Simkhai and Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, among others.
